Being a proud carnivore (sounds so animalistic, LOL), I tell you that I´m able to function well spiritually without letting go of animal protein.
When I started practicing Sikh Yoga in 2001, I attempted to stop consuming animal protein, but I felt weak and began getting sick regularly. By returning to an animal protein diet, I regained my health.
One of my spiritual mentors explained that I donate a lot of vital energy during spiritual rescues, and dense animal protein is necessary for the type of work I do. Therefore, letting go of animal meat is not a rigid requirement from the spiritual realm, as most people say.
Do you know what else? A lot more people could be touched by spirituality if we set aside religious dogma, especially in nations with animal protein scarcity. Eat your bacon, enjoy your salad, be happy, and leave the materialistic way of life for a life of freedom and joy with spirituality!
Some radicals will say that by eating meat you cannot reach higher realm spirituality. That's nonsense! It's the same control technique that religion uses to tame followers: "If you don’t do what the scripture says, you will burn in hell for eternity." Most of us know there is no eternity in hell because hell is a creation of our mind. :)
We must understand that, further down the line, humanity will no longer need animal protein because we will no longer have a carbon-based physical body. Until then, some people will do fine with a more subtle vegetarian or vegan diet. Some people will thrive on an exclusive fish diet, while others will require a denser diet that includes red meat.
If you are a vegetarian or vegan, please don’t be overly passionate. Your food choice is your own. If meat eaters start a campaign inducing you to eat meat, they will be in violation of your free will. Creating a propaganda campaign showing soybeans, corn cobs, carrots, and lettuce terrified during harvest would be demagogic.
The lesson we take from this is that each of us has our own timeline for changes to occur. We must respect free will and not impose on others what works for us.
I have a vegan friend who attends barbecues and eats rice with herbs sauce and nuts because he knows that what truly matters is spending time with those he loves.
